Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American photographer and journalist who has covered the natural and military disasters of nearly 45 years. Her focus is on the suffering of people in these areas. Curry reported on wars from Kosovo, Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry is a journalist, television anchorperson and reporter she was born 1956. Her best-known role has been on Today, a National Broadcasting Co. morning news broadcasted program. Curry's work was noted for its coverage of humanitarian emergencies that took place in war-torn nations as well as natural disasters. Curry's mother was Japanese American and her U.S. navy-marine father played prominent roles within Curry's personal life. She met her mother while working alongside their father during Japan in the aftermath of World War II. As a result of her father's active military service, the family relocated often. They finally settled in Ashland Oregon where Curry attended the high school. Her graduation with a journalist degree in 1978 from the University of Oregon in 1978. She became the first woman anchor for the station when she was 22. Following that, she went onto becoming an anchor and reporter for KGW which is which is an NBC affiliate station in Portland. After four years, she relocating to Los Angeles as a reporter for the KCBS-TV. Through the six years she worked for KCBS She was honored with 2 Emmy Awards.
